All I Wan't Is Everything

If you guys are anything like me then you have a laundry list full of goals, in which you probably add more to said list every Monday. I know for sure I do. I mean seriously, my list had gotten so long as of lately that I became extremely overwhelmed with my own expectations. Overwhelmed to the point where I had a real life anxiety attack. Who knew I even suffered from anxiety!? Oh yeah…God!

After a long conversation with my mommy I realized that it wasn’t the actual list of goals that I had on my list that caused the anxiety attack, it was the pace at which they were being met. Things aren’t moving as fast as I would like for them to and for a split second I forgot that it could very well be because the things I want for myself may not be the things He wants for me. And God trumps every man, every time.

See, God truly wants all of us to have goals and to strive to meet them (Proverbs 21:5), but what He doesn’t want is for us to write up these long list of goals without any thought of Him and His will for us. It’s like writing the list and hiding it from Him, thinking we’re able of checking them off one by one without strength, perseverance and blessings from Him.

So basically, before we start busting our butt to accomplish what it is that we want, it might save us a lot of time and heartache to go about it in a different order. What I’m learning to do is to approach ALL of my goals with such humility that I pray and seek His guidance on whether or not it’s even in His will for me first. And if isn’t…the only thing left to do is jump on board with whatever He has up His sleeve. The silver lining in not getting what we want is that we’re going to get what He wants for us and not 9 times out of 10 but every single time, His plan takes us further than our imaginations will even allow us to go.

“Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” Matthew 6:33-34
