You know how you can meet someone and you just click with each other? Well that's EXACTLY how I feel when it comes to Kailey of Dreaming Daisy. Not only is she the sweetest but she is an amazing business owner and I have really enjoyed watching her grow her brand! I could go on and on but you'll see more of why she is amazing below!
How did you begin creating jewelry and what led you to opening up your online shop?
I've always been a creative person, and I knew I wanted to put that to good use. I used to make those silly little friendship bracelets in middle school, and then when I discovered Pinterest I would make all kinds of stuff.
Some of the things I used to make years ago!
Probably about a year/year and a half ago, my friend Eldina and I talked about how we should open up an Etsy shop together. We had no idea what we were going to do. That was the seed that grew into this beautiful daisy! (I know, I'm cheesy! Lol) After coming to the decision that I would do jewelry, fighting my fears, and talking to Alisha as well as others around me, I decided to just go for it. And now here I am! :)
You're a blogger too! How do you juggle blog and business?
My blog is really an outlet for me in a personal lifestyle way. One thing I do is write down my blog post ideas on those little sticky tabs, and place them on the days in my planner. This way, I have the freedom to move them about as I feel necessary. I wish that my blog was more business focused but right now I'm still testing the waters out and finding my way, too! Maybe one day I will be able to offer tips that I learned.
What has been your favorite piece that you have created so far?
One of my favorite pieces is the Dreamsicle Bracelet. I have been loving it for day to day wear just because it has that little bit of sparkle without overdoing it!
What has been the biggest challenge you have faced since starting your business?
I honestly would say that overcoming my fears of JUST DOING THINGS has been my biggest challenge. I over think and over complicate, and that is just a waste of time. I always think "it's not the right time". It will never be the right time, just do it! I am slowly learning to just breathe, and do what feels right to me. I am trusting God :)
What advice would you give to someone wanting to become an entrepreneur?
Not everyone is going to like what you do, whether it's jewelry, paintings, services, etc. There will always be someone who you don't appeal to and that's okay! That is the beauty of the world of small businesses. There is really something for everyone! You have to be your biggest fan and do what you love.
Its 2pm on a Saturday, what are you most likely doing?
Either sitting on my living room floor creating, or out and about with my boyfriend. Saturdays are my favorite!
If you could take over anyone's business for a day, who's would it be?
This might seem random, but Duff Goldman or Buddy Valastro. I love both of their shows! Baking is another thing I love, and it seriously seems like so much fun to me, to run a bakery with such awesome cakes like theirs.
Where do you see Dreaming Daisy in 5 years?
I hope that in 5 years I will have an established business. I want to have everything set in place (plan wise) and possibly an employee! I will have AT LEAST a room in my home dedicated to all things Dreaming Daisy. I would also absolutely love to have my pieces sold in some local markets and/or be a vendor at local craft shows. The possibilities are endless.
And because Kailey is amazing, she has agreed to give one lucky winner her favorite Dreamsicle bracelet! You know the rules, enter to below! Good Luck!
