Last night I began reading "Do Cool Sh*t" by Miki Agrawal. in the first chapter she discusses defining success and getting down to the real reason why you wan't to be successful and it got me thinking. So many people equate success to how much money you have in the bank or what type of car you drive, but does that really make you successful? I mean, just look at how many millionaires there are who have every material thing that they could possibly wan't but are completely miserable with their lives. Society really tries to make us believe that if we are not rich, then there is no way we can be successful (especially for small business owners!).
I definitely used to think getting a new car or nice apartment would make me successful but after going through hell at my last job I realized that my definition of success had nothing to do with money or material things. I wan't to be genuinely happy and be free to pursue everything that I am passionate about.
Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE the money too (a sista got bills to pay) But at the end of the day I wan't to be able to lay down and just smile like an idiot for no reason because I am just THAT happy with my life. To me, THAT is success.
What is your definition of success?
