Candid Conversations With Women Entrepreneurs

Last weekend I had the honor of attending the Candid Conversations event hosted by Nicole Garner, owner and CEO of The Garner Circle PR agency. The event was for women who were interested in starting their own business or who may already be small business owners. The event was held at the super cute Crave Dessert Bar in Charlotte, NC where they provided refreshments and served delicious cocktails courtesy of Grey Goose.

As we walked in we were greeted by the fabulous staff of the The Garner Circle and was directed to mingle around with the other ladies before the panel started. The energy in the room was amazing and I met so many great ladies who were on the same journey as me!

Before the panel discussion began, Elizabeth Teagarden of The Teargarden Group delivered a very motivational opening statement where she spoke on her 5 tips to being a successful entrepreneur. My favorite tip; "Burn the ships. Quit your day job..MAKE yourself more hungry" ha!CC-8 The panel consisted of eight amazing and very inspiring women, Nicole Garner, Kim Wu, Davita Galloway, Robbie McNair, Jamie Miller, Jasmin Young, Kelley Eaves-Boykin, and Shari Gray and was moderated by the lovely Marsha Barnes.CC-7CC-1CC-11 The women discussed separating business from personal life, why you HAVE to be a jack of all trades in the early stages of your business, the importance of protecting your brand (registering your LLC and trademark) and so much more. As the panel was going on I looked around to a few ladies sitting next to me and it seems as if everyone was soaking up the information. I even have a long list of notes in my phone.

A few of my favorite quotes from the discussion:

"It takes an incredible amount of faith to get to where you need to go in your journey"

"Build your brand, leave your legacy and put your name on everything you create"

"Pride is something that you can't afford to have"

"Success isn't a destination, it is a journey"

Overall it was an amazing afternoon! I love the fact that so many female entrepreneurs were able to get together and discuss their passion and business. Events like this truly excitements me and gives me that extra bit of motivation I need to continue on my journey. I can't wait for the next one!
