Hey beautiful people today I wan't to introduce you to a beautiful lady and fellow newbie blogger, Taylor from Pumps and Penalties. Get to know her below then stalk her blog!
I’m Taylor but everyone calls me Chuc like shoes Chuck Taylors (no k though, dare to be different). I’m from Pittsburgh, PA but I currently live in Charlotte, NC. I studied Communication Arts at Johnson C. Smith University with a focus in Sports Broadcasting. I love, love, love sports but I have other passions. I have a sneaker fetish (it’s really bad actually), I love music and movies and books and did I mention – sneakers? One day I want to be a big sports analyst like Michael Wilbon but for now I’ll just be Chuc – the owner of PumpsAndPenalties.com!
Why did you start blogging? I started blogging for two reasons. First, because as a woman I wasn't being taken seriously when I wanted to talk about sports. I wanted to show that not only could I do it, I can do it better than most men, in my opinion anyway. Second reason being that I wanted a way to get my name out there. I want to be a sports broadcaster but I want to debate not report. Pumps and Penalties is a way for me to show the facts about the topic and add my opinion as well. I played three in high school (basketball, volleyball and track) and Pittsburgh is a huge, huge sports city! I grew up around it and it’ll always be a part of my life. And that’s why I started Pumps and Penalties, so that I would always have sports at my pretty little fingertips.
Whats been the most difficult thing you've come across since starting?
Everything has been difficult! From finding the right topic to discuss, creating the right logo, what I want my site to look like. Actually, I’ll go with that last one as the most difficult. Before I even think about my readers I think about how I want something that I can look at every day and not want to shoot myself. But I know that I have to give them something appealing to the eye, both genders. I think I’ve changed the layout at least 6 times since I’ve started. I want you to know I’m a girl but I don’t want the guys to stray away.
If you could take over anyone's blog for a day, who's would it be?
Honestly, if I could take over anyone’s blog it would be yours! TheAlishaNicole.com is the only blog, other than my own, that I visit daily. It’s crazy because we don’t even write about the same things but it’s just so cool. I use your blog as a blueprint for my own but I try not to bite your style too much. Ha!
Hmmm, I love music so much so this is hard. I really have two songs I can NOT stop singing. First, I’ll go with Same Love by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. I love the message behind the song and I especially love how he didn’t feel like he needed to grab a big name artist to sing on the hook and it stills sounds amazing. The second one is Blood on the Leaves by Kanye West. Anybody that knows me will tell you that I walk around all day screaming “strangggeeee fruiittttttt hangingggggg….”! I love the sample, I love the way the beat drops, I just love the song!
If you could hop on a plane and go anywhere, where would it be?
I don’t even want to get on plane and go anywhere. Just take me on a cruise and I’ll be fine! To be out on the water and stopping at different islands. Anything that gets me in my bathing suit, I’m there! I’m all about #TeamTwoPiece, running around like black BayWatch.
Any parting words of "wisdom"?
Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. No one can stop you but you. So many times people have doubted me because I’m girl and I refuse to take that lightly. I’m gonna do it and I’m gonna do it so much better than you could ever imagine! Always carry a “Don’t worry, I’ve got this” attitude and nobody can bring you down.
